Title:Bus Driver
Salary Range:$10,000 and up depending on route

We are looking for a positive individual to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school for students according to established routes and within established times and guidelines; to provide safe efficient transportation to students on extra-curricular or other non-route trips.

(including, but not limited to)

  • Excellent driving skills and possess an Arkansas Class B CDL with P and S endorsements
  • Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, procedures and traffic laws/ordinances
  • Deal with students, staff, parents, and others in a courteous manner according to district policy and procedures
  • Make quick and responsible decisions
  • Fuel bus as needed
  • Provides appropriate reports on fuel usage
  • Completes daily pre-trip inspections as required by law and district policy and procedures
  • Participates in on-site training as required
  • Continuous proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus
  • Drive specific route transporting students to and from school; must be punctual with appropriate attendance record
  • Address behavior problems when necessary in order to maintain control/safety
  • Maintain open communication with parents
  • Report major disciplinary problems to the staff member responsible for bus discipline in writing on proper form
  • Inspect bus for damage at end of each run
  • Sweep bus and leaves vehicle in clean condition
  • Complete paperwork such as student count, recording mileage, accident reports and vehicle maintenance requests
  • Attend safety meetings and other workshops to maintain high level of safety awareness and procedures
  • Attend orientation meetings as required
  • Wash bus as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License
  • Pass State Skill Test and State Written Test
  • PREFERRED: Class B CDL with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements.
  • Clear background check (Arkansas State and FBI)
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Very safely operate a school bus
Physical Requirements
  • Repetitive motions with shoulder to open/close a bus door
  • Repeated movements to and from the floor
  • Repeated turning/twisting motions with all joints and waist
  • Ability to sit for up to six hours
  • Repeated push/pull on fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders, elbows and back
  • Ability to turn head to both sides with full range of motion
  • Ability to drag 100 lb dummy 30 feet (in case of emergency)
  • Ability to exit end re-enter through rear door (for evacuation drill and in emergency situation)
  • Sit and talk or hear and sometimes walk and stand
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk or hear
  • frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste or smell
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
