Description
We are looking for a hard-working individual to serve as a speech pathologist in our school district.
 
Responsibilities
 
•          Attendance and assistance in referral, assessment, programming, and placement as appropriate.
•          Administration and interpretation of appropriate assessments of auditory and communicative abilities functioning
•          Provision of a written report of assessment information with recommendations to the evaluation/programming committee when deemed necessary.
•          Recommendation of appropriate long and short range goals regarding speech therapy services and interpretation of these goals to school personnel and parents.
•          Establishment of appropriate therapy schedules and administration of therapy based on needs assessed and established in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
•          Conduction of conferences with school personnel and parents when program changes are indicated, to include minimally an annual review of the program.
•          Provision of, upon request, counseling, consultation, or in-service programs to teachers, parents, or community members as a representative of the local school district.
•          Recommendation of materials, supplies, and equipment for carrying out the functions of the position to the school principal.
•          Other duties as assigned.  
 
Qualifications
•          ASHA or Provisional Certification
•          Arkansas Board of Examiners Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology State License or ASHA provisional certification
 
Physical Requirements
 
•          Stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.
•          Lift, carry, push, and pull light to heavy object from 1 to 50 pounds from below feet to above shoulder height; teams are utilized for objects over 50 pounds
•          Bend, reach, walk, and stand for extended periods
•          Good physical condition
•          Good distance vision in one eye and the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters are required, glasses permitted
•          Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or ==without a hearing aid, is required
•          Mental and emotional stability
